What is Choghadiya?
Choghadiya (also Chaughadia, "four ghadis") is a muhurat system, popular in Gujarat and western India, that divides the day and the night into eight slots each and gives every slot a quality: Amrit (nectar, best), Shubh (auspicious), Labh (gain), Char (movable, good for travel), and the three to avoid for new beginnings, Udveg (anxiety), Rog (illness) and Kaal (time of Saturn). Each slot is ruled by a planet: Moon for Amrit, Jupiter for Shubh, Mercury for Labh, Venus for Char, Sun for Udveg, Mars for Rog, Saturn for Kaal.
The slots are equal eighths of the real daylight and night in Chicago, so the clock times change daily and from city to city. The order for each weekday is the same as in the Navagraha app and follows the standard published tables.
